Howard Dean, emerging leader of Democratic Party, is a member of the United Church of Christ

Howard Dean, front-runner to become the new chair of the Democratic National Committee, is a member of the United Church of Christ.  J. Bennett Guess has an article up on UCC web site talking about Dean's involvement with the UCC and general information on the denomination's history.
