The Senate and House have sent the President legislation that will outlaw the so-called partial-birth abortion procedure. What’s wrong with that? Plenty. The legislation doesn’t, for example, include a provision allowing for the health of the mother to be taken into account. Under some medical circumstances pregnancy can create problems that put the life of the mother in danger. But that doesn’t matter to the “pro-life” forces in Congress and the White House. Almost all of these late-term abortions are done for medical reasons. Next on the Bush agenda: outlawing Roe vs Wade and taking away a woman’s right to choose.
