The Goose Hollow Family Shelter at Portland’s First United Methodist Church is an interfaith and community effort to shelter families with children in the Metro area. Each month the program requires over 150 volunteers a night – to stay overnight, play with the kids, prepare meals, and help with clean-up. This is a program that I know well and can vouch for with certainty because before leaving for seminary I served as the shelter’s executive director. Right now the shelter is searching for volunteers and cash donations. Your gift of time and / or money can really make a difference.
