Whatever you think about Hillary Clinton – and I’m not inclined to support her because of her support for the Iraq war – the senator’s candidacy for the presidency is a remarkable event for a nation that just a generation ago excluded women from the corridors of power. How far have we come as a nation? When I was a baby my mother carried me in her arms at a protest demanding that women be admitted to The Citadel in Charleston. Now a woman serves as the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and my daughters have every chance to witness a woman sit in the Oval Office.
