Today years ago today Portland lost one of our leading advocates for causes such as ending homelessness and battling HIV/AIDS when Gene Ediger died. Gene was the partner of (now) well known Portland blogger Worldwide Pablo (aka Paul Nickell). During his life Gene was one of the administrators of Baloney Joe's and in his final years he served as the chair of the board of directors for Outside In. He was an early mentor of mine. I know for all his family and friends it is difficult to even think that ten years have gone by without him here to rally our spirits or to get the first beer poured. Gene was such a strong and caring presence that in many ways it is still possible to think of him as being around. He is always missed and will never be forgotten.
